wick's pizza

Mike and Meredith Wickliffe established Wick’s Pizza over 20 years ago. The first Wick’s opened in 1991 in the Plainview Shopping Center in Louisville’s East End.  That location was later moved to the Baxter Avenue location in the Highlands.

In 1998, Wick’s expanded and, opened a new location in Goose Creek, also in Louisville’s East End.  Wicks expanded to their Middletown location in 2002.  Then finally in 2009 Wick’s expanded to New Albany Indiana, and established a location on State Street.
Wick’s has an extensive resume with an assortment of awards.  They were voted Louisville Magazine, Best Pizza in 2001-2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2013.

The New Albany location has a very welcoming environment with multiple options for seating.  They have bar seating, table seating and even sofas.

Amy Dunn, bartender and mother of three, took a year off from working after her last pregnancy. She said she loves the environment and the family atmosphere Wick's provides.

“I love my regulars. It's good to have people to come in and you know each other by name,”
Dunn said. “And they know exactly what they want to buy. It makes it nicer for them, and they feel welcome.”

“We have a buffet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. during the week,” Dunn said. “Friday it’s extended an hour to 2 p.m. and drinks are also discounted to $5."
The second floor of the New Albany Wick’s is home bar for the Indianapolis Colt’s fans during the NFL season. The second floor also has a bar, an arcade, pool tables and a stage for bands to perform. They provide live music on the weekend; they also have karaoke and trivia some nights.

“All the ingredient are fresh, and the dough is made in house every single day,”
Ashley Issacs, marketing director, said. “Our sauces are also made in house every day. We use a whole milk mozzarella/provolone blend. We don’t make our pizzas like a typical pizza place that sprinkles on the topping. We pile on the toppings."

The heart and soul of Wick’s is the atmosphere; it has a funky eclectic type of feel that a lot of places don’t have.  It’s not fine dining; it’s has a very laid-back atmosphere.

Service is very important to Wick’s, and they instill in their employees the importance of customer service. It’s very important that they get your order right the first time.

“Were very attuned to quality of our pizza, because our pizza is not cheap,”  Issacs said. “But when you sit down and eat one of our pizzas, it’s going to weigh about three to four pounds more than a pizza you would purchase at a chain pizza establishment.”

The New Albany location has a wide demographic of people. They have a younger crowd that’s prominent at night for the live band performances, trivia and those types of activities. They have an older crowd that is typically at the bar, and families with children come in during dinnertime and eat as a family. They have a little bit of everything.

The New Albany location has over 20 flat screen televisions, and they get a generous amount for sports fans as a result. They have a dance floor for kids who want to dance when the DJ is spinning.

The New Albany location has a very wide delivery range that many people aren’t aware of. They will deliver to Clarksville, Eastern Boulevard, and even Floyds Knobs.

Wick’s also offers a V.I.P loyalty program. When you sign up for the program you are immediately sent $5 off your next pizza. Then you will be sent coupons periodically. This program also will send you a gift for your birthday, as well as your anniversary of signing up.

Wick’s is socially conscience as well and gives back to the community in a number of ways.  Wick’s offers a rebate service to organizations, churches or individuals in serious need of help.

The service gives you the ability to invite your friends and family to dine in at the New Albany location, and they will give 20 percent of the sales to the individual or organization.

They have done silent auctions and raffles to raise money for many different organizations.

Wick’s donates thousands of dollars every year to Camp Quality. Camp Quality serves children with cancer, and their families year round at no cost to the family.   They also throw pizza parties once a month for children in the cancer ward at Kosair Children’s Hospital.
