On February 20, 2016 close to 300 people came out to Deam Lake in Borden, Indiana to support the Special Olympics Polar Plunge. Super heroes, Minions, and football players raced into the shivering cold waters. But they were shivering for a reason.
To participate, each individual had to raise at least $75 in pledges. All funds raised benefited Special Olympics Indiana. According to the News and Tribune this year’s Polar Plunge raised over $70,000. One participant Marjorie Cox, is proof anyone can participate. Ms. Cox is 85 years old, she put the polar plunge on her bucket list three years ago and has been participating ever since.
Afterwards participants gathered for breakfast and awards at The After Splash Bash held at Borden high school. On their Facebook page Special Olympics Indiana area 2 announced the costume winners were the yellow beady eyed Minions!
