PUBLIC ART IN NEW ALBANY
Downtown New Albany is the home of a wide variety of artists. With organizations such as the Arts Council of Southern Indiana, which hosts emerging local artists, the Carnegie Center, which works with area schools to put together art shows and give out awards to student artists, and other galleries around town, it encourages citizens to come together through art and creativity.
This sense of community has been around for years and is unique to the Southern Indiana area. Arts Council volunteer, IU Southeast student and a child of the Southern Indian art community, Kate Harrison, stressed the importance of the art community in Southern Indiana. The uniqueness of this area makes Southern Indiana a creative and colorful place to live and to learn.
